THE LITTLE MERMAID THE WALT DISNEY HALLE BAILEY JONAH HAUER-KING

'The Little Mermaid': This May, immerse yourself in the magical world of one of Hans Christian Andersen's favorite fairy tales

The most famous screen adaptation of this classic story is Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' from 1989, and this May comes a new, enchanting vision that will captivate viewers of all ages

The long-awaited and Oscar-winning musical classic from the Disney studio comes this year in a feature version of the story of a girl from the sea who decides to leave her fairy-tale underwater world for love.

King Triton's youngest daughter, Ariel, yearns to learn more about the world beyond the sea, and while touring the surface, she falls in love with dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately puts her life – and her father's crown – in danger.

One of the most famous fairy tales by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen from 1837 has seen several film adaptations, but none is as popular as Disney's animated The Little Mermaid from 1989, which won two Oscars - the one for the best original song and music from movie.

Andersen's Little Mermaid, like all other fairy tales, is a slightly darker story than the Disney film adaptation, and a new live-action version based mostly on the Disney animated classic is coming to theaters this May. Read the full article at KINO FILM.HR
