Second season of The Umbrella Academy has finished filming...
When can we expect the release date?
Six months since the first slate, filming of The Umbrella Academy season 2 has officially finished on Monday, November 25th! Streaming giant Netflix still hasn't announced the official release date but as the show pulled in some of their best numbers for the first quarter of 2019 we can expect new season probably around the same time in early 2020!
Even though we have very little official information from Netflix some things are sure about the continuation of the popular show. The full cast will be back, as well as showrunner Steve Blackman, for the 10, one-hour-long episodes of the second season. The story will mostly be adapted from Gerard Ways comic book Umbrella Academy volume 2: Dallas from 2009. Does this mean we will apparently get more time travelling, more dysfunctional Hargreeves sibling drama as well as the closer look at the assassination of John F. Kennedy?
"Netflix still hasn't announced the official release date yet"
Still what strikes the most, is the addition of three new characters, previously not seen in the comic books. As Netflix announced a few months ago, new cast members that joined the show's second season are Yusuf Gatewood, Marin Ireland, and Ritu Arya. Gatewood will fill in the shoes of Raymond "a charismatic born leader", Ireland is doing a role of Sissy, "fearless, no-nonsense Texas mom" and Arya's character is Lila, "a chameleon, who can be as brilliant or insane as the situation requires.".
With all this in a view now, we hope that Netflix will soon break all guessing games and reveal the release date as well as more information of season two!
