John Cena also stars in 'Barbie' movie
One of the best wrestlers will also appear in the first feature film about Barbie, and his role is still an enigma
Just released, the trailer for the first Barbie feature offered a huge surprise. No, it's not about the pink color that still dominates every frame, but about what is written in pink letters. Namely, the trailer at one point brings a number of names of actors who appear in the film, and among them one, to say the least, unexpected.
Namely, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling appear in the main roles, and it is known that we will be able to see Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrer, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwaj, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Dua Lipa, Helen Mirren, Connor Swindells, Jamie Demetriou and Kate McKinnon. But the list published in the trailer also contains one unexpected name, that of John Cena.
Although he has already appeared in a number of films - from action to comedies - the name of one of the most successful wrestlers in history is certainly a surprise in the film Barbie.
Let's remember that after the movie The Marine (2006), Cena starred in 12 Rounds (2009) and several more action movies before he turned to comedies like Trainwreck (2015). In the same year, he filmed the comedy Sisters, and also appears in Daddy's Home and the Christmas sequel Daddy's Home 2 (2017). After comedies, he returned to action (Bumblebee - 2018, Fast and Furious 9 - 2021), and soon we will see him in the tenth installment of Fast and Furious.
Market wise, John Cena does not appear in the trailer itself, nor in a series of published posters with portraits of the actors, but his name has not gone unnoticed and there is already widespread speculation as to what role he could play in this film directed by Greta Gerwig, who, together with Noah Baumbach, he also signs the script.
Entertainment for the audience as well as the cast
So, the role of this athlete, actor, rapper and even writer is still shrouded in mystery. It is only known that the name of his character - Allan - but there is no doubt that it will be interesting to see him in this "pink" film.
The story follows Barbie (Margot Robbie), who as an "imperfect doll" was kicked out of Barbie Land and she, in search of happiness, goes among people.
The trailer emphasizes fun, and many actors, including Emma Mackey, emphasized this in their statements.
"Shooting this film was the most fun I've ever done. It was great! The business was run by people who know what they are doing and who care about getting the job done as well as possible,” said Mackey.
The film, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, will be released in theaters on July 21.
