How to Think Film: Sign up for the 16th Youth Film Critics Workshop at the 16th Pravo Ljudski Film Festival
Application for five young film and critical thinking enthusiasts
Building its creative community, during the previous years, composed not only of friends of the festival but also of young directors, members of the jury, authors, the Pravo Ljudski Film Festival nurtures an active attitude towards the social and public, ie a critical view of the world. Over the past decade, we have integrated critical film expression into the festival as an inseparable part of the Pravo Ljudski identity, striving through this form to present film selection, problematize social and political issues within the context of films, but also promote critical film thinking based on argument, knowledge and sensibility.
This year we are continuing our practices as once again we want to offer (future) film thinkers, journalists in the field of culture, and young people who write and want to publish art criticism a chance to do so during the festival, building on our festival program, professional mentoring and an exciting festival environment. Five young people with inspiration and motivation will have the opportunity to attend our workshops, work on their critical expression and learn about important socio-political issues of today through the lens of contemporary creative documentary film.
If you have tried writing art criticism, are studying at one of the faculties of social sciences, humanities or art, are looking for your first or new professional challenges and want to make useful acquaintances in the field of film and culture, apply!
An unforgettable festival adventure awaits you during which you will:
- Watch this year's festival film program and write film reviews;
- Attend a workshop that includes work on text and images with a mentor and guests of the festival;
- Follow Q&A sessions and conversations with guests, and thus learn from internationally recognized documentary filmmakers;
- Have the opportunity to publish works on one of our media partners;
We want to share knowledge and experience with you, but above all, a love for moving images. Therefore, previous experience is not necessary, but we would certainly like to see some example of your previous work, whether it has been published or not. We demand responsibility and communicativeness, as well as knowledge of the English language. Also, attending the workshop and following the festival content is mandatory.
The workshop will be mentored by the film critic and editor of the Duart Platform, Arman Fatić, who will guide the participants through critical thinking of films, writing and editing of texts, and will monitor and guide the participants in film conversations and discussions.
Applications must be submitted to press@pravoljudski.org no later than November 25th.
Candidates are required to send a CV in B/ H/ S language, and one copy of the paper (film review/essay / creative writing).
We look forward to becoming part of the Pravo Ljudski Community. Let’s learn to think about film together!
